“The purpose of learning is growth, and our minds, unlike our bodies, can continue growing as we continue to live.”
— Morris Adler (1870-1937), Austrian psychiatrist
Lifelong education should be the standard for all of us; we should never stop learning. Wikipedia says that lifelong learning is the “ongoing, voluntary, and self-motivated” pursuit of knowledge for either personal or professional reasons. Therefore, it not only enhances social inclusion, active citizenship, and personal development, but also self-sustainability, as well as competitiveness and employability.
I embraced lifelong learning as a young man and once I finished university studies, I have continued to add certificates. I endeavour to foster the same desire for learning in my students.
And these days the Internet is awash with educational opportunities, be it distance education from a reputable university almost anywhere in the world, or from dedicated individuals and coaches like myself.
